In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is one of the most advanced and effective fertility treatments available today. This groundbreaking procedure involves retrieving eggs from the ovaries, fertilizing them with sperm in our state-of-the-art laboratory, and transferring the resulting embryos into the uterus. IVF offers hope to couples who have not succeeded with other fertility treatments or who have complex fertility challenges including blocked fallopian tubes, severe male factor infertility, endometriosis, or advanced maternal age.
At our fertility center, we provide comprehensive IVF services using the latest reproductive technologies and techniques. Our experienced embryologists and fertility specialists work together to create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. The IVF process includes ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization, embryo culture, and embryo transfer, all performed with the highest standards of care and precision.

Frequently Asked Questions About In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about IVF treatment, the process timeline, success rates, and what to expect during your IVF journey.
IVF is recommended for a wide range of fertility challenges including blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, severe male factor infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), advanced maternal age, unexplained infertility, and couples who have not succeeded with other fertility treatments. IVF is also used for fertility preservation and for same-sex couples or single women using donor sperm or eggs.
A complete IVF cycle typically takes about 4-6 weeks from the start of ovarian stimulation to pregnancy testing. The process includes approximately 8-14 days of ovarian stimulation medications, followed by egg retrieval, 3-5 days of embryo culture, and embryo transfer. After the transfer, a pregnancy test is performed approximately 10-14 days later. Some patients may require additional preparation time depending on their specific treatment plan.
IVF success rates vary significantly based on the woman's age, the cause of infertility, and the quality of embryos. For women under 35, the success rate per cycle is approximately 40-50%. Success rates gradually decline with age: 35-37 (30-40%), 38-40 (20-30%), and over 40 (10-15%). Multiple IVF cycles may be needed to achieve pregnancy. Your fertility specialist will provide personalized success rate estimates based on your specific situation.
The IVF process involves some discomfort but is generally well-tolerated. Ovarian stimulation injections may cause mild bloating and discomfort. The egg retrieval procedure is performed under sedation or anesthesia, so you will not feel pain during the procedure, though you may experience some cramping afterward. Embryo transfer is similar to a Pap smear and is virtually painless. Our team ensures you are comfortable and provides pain management as needed throughout the process.
